Mended Hearts, Diablo Chapter 254 holds monthly meetings at Kaiser Walnut Creek. The meetings provide support and education for anyone with heart disease, recovering from a heart attack or open heart surgery. At our meetings, we routinely have Cardiologists, Pharmacists, Dietitians, Dentists and other professionals as guest speaker to speak on a variety of cardiac topics. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend our meetings. We encourage YOU to become a member! As a member of Diablo Chapter 254, you will also become a member of the Mended Hearts National organization. Your national membership will also automatically subscribe you to the quarterly magazine, Heartbeat.

Mended Hearts is a national nonprofit organization affiliated with the American Heart Association. Its purpose is to offer the gift of hope to heart disease patients, their families and caregivers. Recognized for its role in facilitating a positive patient-care experience, Mended Hearts partners with 460 hospitals and rehabilitation clinics and offers services to heart patients through visiting programs, support group meetings and educational forums. Our mission is to "insure hope in heart disease patients and their families".

Mended Hearts support groups help people understand that there can be a rich, rewarding life after heart disease. Members listen, share their experiences, learn from health care professionals and volunteer to talk to other heart patients about what they may face include lifestyle changes, depression, recovery, and treatment. Annually, Mended Hearts volunteers make 227,000 hospital visits to patients and 30,000 visits to family members and caregivers.
